HOUSTON – On Friday afternoon, James Sears Bryant, HBU Head Men’s Basketball Coach Ron Cottrell announced the addition of forward Sam Hofman to the Huskies’ 2021-22 recruiting class.

As a freshman for Detroit in 2019-20, he appeared in 21 games with seven starts, averaging 1.7 ppg and 1.2 rpg and scoring nine points in just 15 minutes in a game at Green Bay. Hofman has also gained international experience playing for the Belgium U-20 and U-18 national teams.

Hofman on HBU:

“HBU felt like the right fit for me. Their playing style and how they care for the players off the court really appeals to me. I feel like it’s the perfect spot to keep developing as a basketball player and a person.”

Cottrell on Hofman:

“Sam Hofman is another great addition to our 2021-22 roster. He gives us even more size, versatility, and experience along our front line. Sam brings us extensive experience from his time with NCAA D-I University of Detroit, junior college national powerhouse Salt Lake Community College, and the Belgium national team. We are excited about the immediate contributions that Sam is going to make to our team and to the HBU community. I know our fans will enjoy Sam’s high level of energy and relentless competitiveness.”
