Digital advertising is an effective form of communication. Many schools have utilized it to promote themselves. These random ads are cool but they arguably lack the firepower of an entire network. Texas University doesn’t have that problem. They might not win a title every year, but they are capable of winning in the world of branding.
Winning championships often motivates athletes. Playing for the University of Texas may win you a championship. In the long term, it could enable you to achieve a more important goal. The Longhorn Network could enable recruits to begin to build their own personal brand.
Coach Sarkisian is used to maneuvering offensive weapons. He has had access to many of them over the years. However, the Longhorn Network isn’t a random weapon. It’s a modern-day death star. If the school can figure out how to use it correctly it will be a game-changer. OU and every other school should be scared. They can sign whatever media rights deal they want. It won’t matter because the Longhorns have a weapon that will enable them to win the recruiting war.
