HBU Falls to Oral Roberts, 3-1. Senior RF Brandon Bena goes 2-for-4

TULSA, Okla. – For the second-straight day HBU outhit Oral Roberts, but the Golden Eagles made the most of theirs in a 3-1 victory in non-conference baseball Saturday afternoon at J.L. Johnson Stadium.

Senior right fielder Brandon Bena went 2-for-4 for the Huskies (6-23). Sophomore first baseman Brennen Bales went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI, while junior third baseman Jake Miller went 1-for-4 and scored a run.

Senior right-hander Jacob Coats (1-5) took the loss, allowing three runs on three hits with seven strikeouts and four walks in four innings. Senior Brent Pronger, freshman Cy Murphy, and sophomore Morris Austin combined to hold the Golden Eagles hitless over the last four innings.

Alec Jones went 1-for-2 with a home run and drove in all three runs for ORU (14-16). Hunter Swift tripled and walked twice, while Blake Hall walked three times and scored a run.

Isaac Coffey went the distance for the Golden Eagles, allowing one run on six hits with 12 strikeouts and no walks on 96 pitches.

ORU took the lead when Hall walked to lead off the second and Jones hit a two-out, two-run home run down the leftfield line.

HBU got on the board in the fourth when Miller singled and Bales drove him in with a double.

The Golden Eagles got the run back in the bottom half as Jones drew a bases-loaded walk.

The series concludes with a 1 p.m. first pitch Sunday.
