Big things are expected this season from the Fightin Texas Aggies. Among other things, the goal is to be SEC Champs, and possibly even national champs.

College Football is almost here folks. No one loves their football more than the SEC and its fans. Of course, this has been Alabama’s league to run over the past decade or so. However, things might be changing in this part of the country.

Traditionally, LSU and Alabama run things in this conference. But now a sleeper team may have just been moved up to true contender. That team is, of course, the Texas A&M Aggies.

As a matter of fact, the Aggies came out with a pretty good recruiting class for the 2019 offseason. It ranked fourth in the nation and third in the SEC and you can guess behind who. Regardless, this season looks to be one hell of a season for Jimbo Fisher and company.

Starting with star QB Kellen Mond, the offense should be in good shape to put some points up on the board. One question mark the team has to answer is how to replace Travyeon Williams at the running back position. While they have some options, such as Jashaun Corbin, it isn’t easy to replace a talent like Williams.

Meanwhile, the hope is that the Aggies defense also steps up and comes up big this season. This used to be a weakness, but in recent years the defense has improved.

This season carries big expectations for coach Fisher. While having a 9-4 season in his first year is good, this team is a step closer to being elite. However, Fisher has to prove it and not think it. The hardest thing about his season will be the schedule.

Looking at the schedule the Aggies have some big road trips. On September 7th they go to Clemson and face off against the defending national champs. The Crimson Tide visit College Station on October 12th, and November features back to back visits to Georgia and LSU.

The first game of the season sees the Aggies hosting the Texas State Bobcats on August 29th.

This season, we will see just how much Mond has matured in his third year at QB. Mond and Coach Fisher have worked well together so far.

Celebrating 125 Years

One thing fans can look forward to is the celebration at Kyle Field. This season marks the 125th season of Aggies football. Special logos are to be featured on both the helmets and the field this season. Expect awesome video tributes to some of the greatest moments in Aggies football history. Also, some returning legends are to be featured at games this season.

This season is shaping up to be a fun and memorable one. Coach Fisher looks to improve on a successful season while celebrating many years worth of historic football.

Prediction

I predict the Aggies will finish with an 11-2 record. Alongside that record I also expect them to dethrone Alabama as the champs of the SEC West. You heard it here first folks. That is a serious prediction that I will stick by.

I also predict this is the year the Ags crack the college football playoff. But let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves yet. They have to prove it first.

Until then, stay tuned to NGSC Sports for the latest on the Aggies this season.

See you next time, Ags.
