At first glance of the Indy Fuel roster, you will notice many new players on the roster. The team almost started from scratch this season and got a total reboot. The beginning of the season may seem shaky as players are learning how they all mesh during games and practices, but it will be successful nonetheless if the Fuel plays their cards right.

Forwards

When looking at a team roster at the beginning of a new season, you always check for the returning veterans. There are six forwards and one defenseman returning this season, including Zach Miskovic and the Rupert twins. The twins scored almost 90 points combined last season. This will be Miskovic’s fourth year on the team, and his first season as team captain. A huge loss was breakout goaltender Etienne Marcoux. Although he had not played since the 2014-15 season, Marcoux turned into a star and will be sorely missed between the pipes.

Defensemen

Zach Miskovic will have his hands full not only with the captaincy but also with the fact that none of his fellow defensemen have played with the Fuel before. Fellow blueliner Chris Rygus played in the Fuel’s inaugural postseason run, but only acquired two penalty minutes in four games. Although it is not on defensemen to score points, the Fuel will need them to step up in other statistical categories. Starting with a clean slate on defense will be a challenge for the Fuel, but it may work in their favor.

Goaltender

Jason Pawloski is the lone goaltender currently on the Fuel’s roster. He comes off of three seasons at Minnesota State University at Mankato where he was the backup goalie. During his time with the Mavericks, he posted a 22-10-7 record. Pawloski boasted a save percentage of .895 or better in all three seasons. Prior to his time at MSU-Mankato, Pawloski starred in the USHL with the Green Bay Gamblers and Indiana Ice. He led the Ice to the 2014 Clark Cup championship in their final year as part of the USHL.
