Third and final scrimmage of training camp is complete for the Eagles

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College football team finished its third and final scrimmage of training camp Tuesday morning inside Alumni Stadium. The first-team offense and defense finished with 40 or so reps as the Eagles prepare for the start of game week prep for UMass later this week.

Here are today’s scrimmage notes and observations: AJ Dillon took the handoff from Anthony Brown on the first two plays from scrimmage and carried the second 25 yards to the 50 behind a big block from Ben Petrula … on third-and-four across midfield, the drive stalled as John Lamot knocked down a pass at the line … Grant Carlson placed a punt at the seven.

EJ Perry and the second team moved the ball across midfield as he completed a pair of first down conversions to Colton Cardinal … a Brandon Barlow sack temporarily pushed the offense back, but Perry twice hooked up with Christian McStravick, including a fourth-and-four conversion … running hard to the outside, John Fadule moved the offense into the red zone … on second-and-goal, David Bailey drove the pile into the end zone for the first score of the morning.

On the next drive, Dillon carried the offense across midfield and Travis Levy kept it alive on a fourth-and-one dive … Dillon got into the end zone on a 25-yard run, breaking a pair of tackles on the way.

The first team’s next drive started with a 25-yard completion from Brown to Jeff Smith and Davon Jones followed with a 10-yard run … the offense got its third first down in three plays with a 10-yard catch by Kobay White … Jones added a 13-yard run, but on third-and-seven, Taj-Amir Torres broke up a pass intended for Smith … Colton Lichtenberg capped the drive with a 24-yard field goal.

Perry led the second team on a touchdown drive with two crucial completions to Fadule … the scoring play came on a fourth-and-five completion in the end zone to CJ Lewis for a 25-yard TD.
