LOWELL, Mass. – Ahead of his first season at the helm of the UMass Lowell women’s basketball program, Head Coach Tom Garrick has revealed the full 29-game 2018-19 schedule.

For the first time since the 2013 season, the River Hawks open the slate at home, welcoming Bryant to the Tsongas Center on November 6. The matchup against the Bulldogs is the first of three straight contests in Lowell.

“I am really excited about our non-conference schedule,” commented Garrick. “It provides our team with very good challenges from teams with varied styles of play. This schedule will prepare us for an always tough America East Conference schedule. As we know, it is an extremely tough conference with well-coached and talented teams. We are excited about the opportunities our non-conference and conference schedules present.”

Saint Peter’s and Fisher College wrap up the longest homestand of 2018 on Nov. 9 and 13, respectively. Last season, UMass Lowell defeated both teams, knocking off the Peacocks in comeback fashion, 66-60, and running away from the Falcons, 102-47.

The victory at Saint Peter’s snapped the River Hawks’ 23-game road losing streak in the programs’ first-ever meeting.

From Nov. 13 to December 2, UMass Lowell embarks on a five-game road swing, including contests at Butler (11/20) and Seton Hall (11/27) to sandwich Thanksgiving.

The River Hawks begin the string at Cornell on Nov. 17 before taking the floor at historic Hinkle Fieldhouse three days later. After the holiday, a midweek trip to New Jersey and New York for matchups against the Pirates and LIU Brooklyn (11/29) wrap up November.

A quick trip to Holy Cross on December 2 opens the final month of the year and wraps up the longest road swing of the season.

The River Hawks return for two games in Lowell against Colgate and Providence on Dec. 5 and 8 respectively, before closing out the non-conference slate with three road games, including matchups against Dartmouth (12/12), Massachusetts (12/21) and Morgan State (12/29).

UMass Lowell’s sixth year of America East play begins at home on January 2 against Vermont, who the River Hawks defeated for their last two conference wins.

For the fifth consecutive year, UMass Lowell will hold its Health & Fitness Field Trip Day, as Binghamton comes to the Tsongas Center for the 11 a.m. tipoff on Jan. 23. A three-game homestand highlights the conference slate with visits from Stony Brook, UAlbany, and UMBC from February 9-16.

The River Hawks host Maine on Feb. 27 before a bye-week entering the America East Playoffs. Each game will take place on the campus of the higher seed, with the quarterfinals beginning on March 6, and the championship game being held on Match 15.

Garrick was named the eighth head coach in program history on April 10 and looks to build off UMass Lowell’s first America East postseason appearance.
