Opening Training Camp

As the Colts are enjoying their new practice space in Westfield Park, there are still lots of questions that will be answered. Is Andrew Luck coming back? How will some major injuries impact the team? Which rookies have gone above and beyond for this team? These questions can only be officially answered by the Colts’ coaching staff, but for now, we can see all the effort the team as a whole is putting into getting back on the field.

Rookie Moves

First things first, let’s take a look at some possible new additions to the Colts roster. There have been a few standout rookies on the field that fans will soon learn. Skai Moore is an undrafted rookie from South Carolina. This linebacker has been playing with the first line and seems to be doing so successfully.  Kenny Moore has also been making waves with the Colts at training camp. He was originally on the New England Patriots offseason roster but was dropped due to recent roster cuts. K. Moore has been picked to start over Quincy Wilson, who was a second-round draft pick in 2017. This says a lot about him as a player and a person. One name we may not see making a huge impact on the team, but will in the future is Deon Cain.  Right now, we have to see how consistent he can be for the Colts. Anybody can catch a ball a few times, but not everybody can do it so consistently day in and day out.

Injury Report

Anthony Walker is a name that many Colts fans are learning. Walker had 22 tackles in 10 games last season. He left practice early on July 29th with a groin injury and has not returned to practice since then.  In June, he suffered a concussion and was carted off of the field. The groin injury is projected to keep him off the field for a few weeks. Luckily, it seems like Skai Moore is ready and willing to take his place with the first line. Malik Hooker has begun the season on the PUP list for the Colts. He is still dealing with ACL and MCL injuries from last year.  The team hopes he will make his debut with the team during their third preseason game against the 49ers. He still has a lot of work left to do on the field, but the team is hopeful for his return.

The Lucky Return

Last but not least, the man of the hour, Andrew Luck.  Multiple sources, including himself, say he is not in pain when throwing passes.  General soreness seems to be the common feeling among Luck and his teammates.  Luck is projected to play against Seattle tonight, which will mark 585 days since he has played in the NFL.  He received the all-clear before practice and had 100 percent clearance to do what felt best for his shoulder. There is not going to be a single Colts fan who will not jump for joy the first time they see Luck throwing a football around again.
