With the Lowell Spinners returning home for a brief three-game series vs Vermont, there was plenty of activity on the roster front. Four members of the team, Jarren Duran, Kole Cottam, Eduard Bazardo and Austin Glorious were given promotion to Low-A Greenville Drive. While C/OF Lane Milligan, LHP Logan Browning (son of former major league pitcher Tom Browning), and RHP Jose Gonzalez were called up from the Red Sox Gulf Coast League team.

Three of the four players who left for Greenville all had pivotal roles in giving the Spinners a chance at a playoff spot this summer in the NYPL.

Duran was second in the batting race at .348, third in stolen bases with 12, and second in slugging percentages at .548. He was third in runs scored with 28 and also led the league in triples and all of Pro Ball with 10. He was second in hits with 54, fourth in On-Base Percentages at .393. No doubt he would have been a New York Penn League All-Star and in the conversation for MVP if the league had such an award.

Bazardo was also all over the stat sheets as he led the league in wins with five, and in complete games with one. He was second in strikeouts with 56, and in innings pitched with 49.2. If there was a problem for Bazardo during his time in Lowell, it was the home run ball as he gave up six of them. That left him tied for second in the league.

Cottam was starting to get hot with the bat at just the right time. He led the team in both home runs and runs batted in at the time of his promotion. Cottam is considered by some to be the future behind the plate for the Red Sox.

Three players arriving from Florida have helped the Gulf Coast team to a first-place standing as of this weekend. They will now be asked to help the Spinners qualify for the playoffs in the New York Penn League.
