The last week in MLB was about a team bolstering their outfield, a team in the American League adds an infielder and a veteran starter signs a contract.

Cardinals Acquire Marcell Ozuna from Marlins

The St. Louis Cardinals made an impact move last week to bolster their lineup by acquiring outfielder Marcell Ozuna from the Miami Marlins.

The Cardinals sent pitching prospect Sandy Alcantara, outfielder Magneuris Sierra, right-handed pitcher Zac Gallen and left-hander Daniel Castano, per Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald.

The Cardinals lost out on the chance to get Giancarlo Stanton, but the addition of Ozuna isn’t a bad consolation prize.

He had a breakout year for the Marlins in 2017 as indicated by his .312 batting average, .924 OPS, 37 homers, 124 RBIs, 93 runs scored and 191 hits.

The Cardinals will have a stellar outfield group going into 2018 that includes Ozuna, Dexter Fowler, and Tommy Pham.

This will be a massive benefit to them in the National League Central as they look to challenge the Chicago Cubs for the division crown.

Angels Sign Zack Cozart to Three-Year Deal

The Los Angeles Angels have been a busy team in the offseason, and there is a new member of their team.

They signed infielder Zack Cozart to a three-year, $38 million deal, per Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.

Cozart was outstanding for the Cincinnati Reds in 2017 as he posted a .297 batting average and .933 OPS with 24 home runs and 63 RBI. He was also an NL All-Star for the first time in his career last year.

He has been hampered by numerous injuries over the past several years but had a very productive season.

The addition of Cozart should provide a boost to an Angels lineup that had trouble scoring runs in 2017.

Yankees Ink CC Sabathia to One-Year Pact

The New York Yankees have decided to bring starting pitcher CC Sabathia for 2018 as both side =s have agreed to a one-year, $10 million deal, per Mark Feinsand of MLB.com.

Sabathia had a solid campaign in 2017 for the Yankees as he posted a 3.69 ERA in 148.2 innings with 120 strikeouts and a 122 ERA+.

This was a marked improvement over the past seasons with the Yankees as he struggled to stay healthy.

The Yankees will need stellar pitching to contend in the AL East, and Sabathia gives them a veteran presence in the rotation.
