Boston College Postgame Notes: No. 16 Virginia Tech

No. 16 Virginia Tech moved to 5-1 on the season with a 23-10 victory over Boston College (2-4, 0-3) Saturday night at Alumni Stadium.

Boston College is 9-18 all-time against Virginia Tech, including a 5-10 mark in ACC play. Virginia Tech is 9-4 all-time in games played at Alumni Stadium.

BC is 5-13 all-time against Virginia Tech when the Hokies were ranked in the AP Top 25.

BC is 30-104-1 all-time against ranked opponents.

Offense

Redshirt freshman wide receiver Kobay White caught a career-long 32-yard pass in the second quarter. The Pennsylvania native finished with two catches for 41 yards.

True freshman running back Travis Levy hauled in a season-high three passes for 42 yards – including a career-long 24-yard reception.

In the fourth quarter, junior wide receiver Jeff Smith found redshirt freshman quarterback Anthony Brown on a 25-yard touchdown pass with 5:38 left in regulation. It was Brown’s first touchdown reception of his career.

For Smith – a former BC signal caller – it was his first TD pass of the season and the fourth of his career. His last TD pass came last year in the Quick Lane Bowl; also a 20-yard trick play pass to QB Patrick Towles.

Brown finished the game completing 13-of-30 passes for 166 yards. He also rushed seven times for a career-high 51 yards.

Defense

Senior defensive end Harold Landry tied a career high with three sacks to move into sole possession of second place in BC history with 26 career sacks.

Landry is now second in BC history with 47 career tackles for loss.

The three-sack game for Landry is the second-best single-game total in BC history.

Junior defensive end Zach Allen recorded a career-high 14 tackles, leading all players in the game. He notched a career-high three tackles for loss and one sack on the night.

The BC defense recorded a season-high five sacks on the night.

Senior cornerback Isaac Yiadom had his second interception of the season in the first quarter for the Eagles. Yiadom now has three career interceptions and the Eagles have eight interceptions on the year.

Senior linebacker Ty Schwab recorded his third career sack and ended the day with eight tackles.

Junior cornerback Lukas Denis finished the night with 10 tackles, including seven solo stops.

Redshirt freshman linebacker John Lamot finished with a career-high nine tackles, including one tackle for loss and five solo stops.
