The previous week in MLB was centered on an outfielder making franchise history and pitchers in the National League dealing with injuries.
Myers Completes Second Cycle In Padres History
The San Diego Padres might not have a terrific 2017 season, but outfielder Wil Myers provided his club with a memorable moment earlier this week.
Myers hit for cycle facing the Colorado Rockies and joined Matt Kemp as the only players in franchise history to achieve this feat, per Dennis Lin of the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Wil Myers just tripled to complete the second cycle in Padres history. Matt Kemp has company.

The cycle by Myers comes 217 games after Kemp reached the honor. It’s interesting that the Padres went 7,443 games without having a cycle, per ESPN Stats & Info.

Myers hit a single in the first inning, doubled in the third, laced a home run in the sixth and raced for a triple in the eighth frame.

The outfielder has started the new season in grand fashion, by accumulating a .375 batting average, 1.142 OPS, scoring 10 runs, crushing three home runs and tallying nine RBI in 12 games.
Rockies Place Gray on Disabled List with Foot Injury
The Colorado Rockies will be without one of their best pitchers in the starting rotation for a couple of weeks.
Jon Gray has been placed on the 10-day disabled list with a foot injury, per Nick Groke of the Denver Post.
Jon Gray to the 10-day DL. Gerardo Parra on paternity. Raimel Tapia and Shane Carle up.

The length of the injury will be longer as Manager Bud Black mentioned that Gray has a stress fracture in his foot and it will sideline him for a least one month, per Groke.
Gray had compiled a 4.38 ERA in 12.1 innings (three starts) allowing one home run, yielding seven walks, striking out nine batters and posting a 4.23 FIP.
The Rockies were leaning on Gray to be the ace of their staff this season and the right-hander missing a month is a monumental blow.
Phillies’ Buchholz Diagnosed with Partial Tear in Arm
Clay Buchholz was rocked in his latest start against the New York Mets. He threw only 2.1 innings, surrendering eight runs (six earned), issuing one walk and giving up one homer.
Following this horrible outing, Buchholz has been diagnosed with a partially torn right flexor pronator mass, per Todd Zolecki of MLB.com.
An MRI on Clay Buchholz revealed a partial tear of right flexor pronator mass. He will get second opinion Monday by James Andrews.
— Todd Zolecki (@ToddZolecki) April 12, 2017
Zolecki mentioned Buchholz will seek a second opinion from Dr. James Andrews.
The Phillies acquired Buchholz in the offseason to provide some depth in the rotation, but this setback prevents that from occurring.
It’s possible that Buchholz will be sent to the disabled list as having even a partial tear isn’t a great sign moving forward.
