Fantasy Flash Week 16: Pickups, starts and sits

Championship Week Edition

Week 16 Pickups:

QBs

Kirk Cousins – While it’s not ideal, I understand that some teams, like mine, may be streaming QBs while Aaron Rodgers is still out. If you are 1 of those people, that Kirk Cousins is probably the only viable starter that may be out there. He faces a horrible Dallas defense.

RBs

Dennis Johnson – Ben Tate is done for the year and the next man up is Dennis Johnson. He’s a smallish, 195 lb back that has flashed good quickness and vision in his small amounts of usage. He will start and should produce against a below average Denver defense.

WRs

Andre Caldwell – Wes Welker has been ruled out for this week and Andre Caldwell will be staring in his place. As a starter in an offense with Peyton Manning, he is a legitimate threat to score and have an above average game.

Rueben Randle – This is a tough call, but if you’re in desperate need for a starter, Randle will be taking Victor Cruz’s place in the starting lineup Sunday. He has an above average matchup against Detroit, but it’s very difficult to judge how much ANY of the Giants will do this week.

TEs

None

Defenses

Detroit – As I just previously said, the Giants are in complete disarray right now and any defense that is facing them is in line for some points. With how frustrated that Detroit probably is from last week’s loss, this could get ugly.

Starts:

QBs

Andy Dalton – The easiest way to explain this recommendation is Dalton is VERY good against bad teams and very bad against good teams. The Vikings give up the 2nd most fantasy points to QBs. Get the point?

Jay Cutler – The Bears vs. Eagles game could be a shootout, similar to the Broncos vs. Cowboys game at the end of the year. The Eagles will do most of their work on the ground, but the Bears will use Cutler’s arm and their 2 monster WRs, Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery.

RBs

LeSean McCoy/DeMarco Murray – I know that I normally just talk about the players outside the top 10 that you should start, but I had to mention that if you have either of these 2 players for championship week, congrats.

Frank Gore – Not only are the Falcons bad against the run, but this will be the final regular season game at Candlestick Park. Gore, Davis, and all the top 49er players that have been there for a while will try to close out the stadium in style.

WRs

Pierre Garcon – The Cowboys can put up points with anyone, but they normally have to because their defense is so bad. Kirk Cousins has proved he can be an efficient QB and he should be able to take advantage of the Dallas seconday.

Antonio Brown – One player that has done much better than I previously thought he would at the start of the year is Antonio Brown. I thought he was just a possession WR that would struggle with the bad Pittsburgh offensive line. However, he has flourished as the #1 WR and he has improved his draft status for next year.

TEs

Delanie Walker – You’ll never get Vernon Davis type games from Walker, but Fitzpatrick, who is horrible by the way, doesn’t have the arm strength to get it to his WRs. So he must check down to his back and Walker. Not good for the Titans, but good for Walker’s fantasy owners.

Sits:

QBs

Tom Brady – Last week I recommended to bench Brady and even though he threw for 350+ yards and 2 TDs, he didn’t play well. This week, I think it will be a similar type week, but the Ravens should also be able to keep him less than 300 yards.

Matt Ryan – If you’re are still starting Matt Ryan, you’re probably out of the playoffs already, but this is just a reminder. He is an average QB that is just trying to get to the finish line so he can start seeing Julio Jones back on the field.

RBs

Andre Brown – I correctly predicted that although Brown has done great things since coming back from injury, last week was just not the week to start him. Unfortunately, this week isn’t exactly the best week to roll with him either. Giants will be down early and passing a lot.

Adrian Peterson – Before you click off the sight for this, hear me out. Peterson is not even guaranteed to play, he is still hurt, and he’s playing a top 5 defense against RBs. Add all of these things together and benching him is the move.

WRs

Jordy Nelson – He can still put up average numbers, but without Aaron Rodgers under center, he can’t get the big numbers we are all used to. Rodgers has not been completely ruled out for week 16 yet, but it’s not looking likely.

Marques Colston – Brees went off on the Carolina defense 2 weeks ago, but everyone knows by now that they are not the same team on the road. Brees has to do it again for me to believe that I may have been overhyping the Carolina defense.

TEs

Greg Olsen – I really like Olsen, but he is not healthy right now and this is a tough matchup. He hasn’t practiced yet this week, but he will gut it out and probably put up average numbers, just don’t expect too much out of him.

That was your Football Fantasy Flash pickup, start, and sit information for week 16 info.
