AFC and NFC South Previews: Week 14

These are the AFC and NFC South previews for week 14 in the NFL

Houston Texans at Jacksonville Jaguars (Thursday Night Game)

The Houston Texans looked good in their loss against the New England Patriots last week. They played like how most people expected them to play all year. However, it’s another loss and they still currently hold the top spot for the #1 pick in the NFL draft. The Jags are playing everyone tough ever since the Denver game a few weeks back. Ironically, it was around the same time they finally realized what the entire world knew, Blaine Gabbert is HORRIBLE.

Indianapolis Colts at Cincinnati Bengals

It seems like the only team the Colts can beat recently is the Tennessee Titans. Over their last 4 games, they are 2-4 with two 1 score wins against the Titans and 2 losses in which they were blown out by more than 4 TDs both against St Louis and Arizona. They now fly to Cincinnati to face the Bengals who sport another tough, proven defense. Andrew Luck has been facing a tough defense every week for the last month, it might explain their struggles. They need a breakout game.

Tennessee Titans at Denver Broncos

I said the Titans were finished after their loss to Jacksonville about a month ago. They played tough in 2 losses to a struggling Colts team and beat a bad Raiders team. That gave false hope, as it had them in the final playoff spot. However, last week, with a ridiculously bad Ryan Fitzpatrick, put them back in their normal spot, out of the playoffs. After all of that they face Peyton Manning in Denver and for anyone that has hope for still making the playoffs, here comes the nail in the coffin.

Atlanta Falcons at Green Bay Packers

We are at the point in the season where teams that usually need the game more are the ones who come out victorious. The Falcons seem to be trying hard, but they just aren’t good. They did find a way to steal a win in Buffalo last week, but that doesn’t change the fact that they are not good. The Packers probably need to win-out to get in the playoffs. The biggest question is the health of star QB Aaron Rodgers. I do not think he’ll play this week, but he has said he will not be shut down for the year.

Buffalo Bills at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Coming off a heartbreaking loss to Atlanta, in which Buffalo literally handed the Falcons the game with a fumble late in the 4th and then another fumble in OT, they now travel to Tampa to face the Buccaneers. The Bucs have been playing well, but they ran into a steamroller last week in the Carolina Panthers. No shame in losing to them, they hope to bounce back and get a home win this week. They haven’t quit yet.

Carolina Panthers at New Orleans Saints (Sunday Night Game)

This is the game of the week. NBC flexed this game to Sunday Night Football when you could see 2-3 weeks ago how big this matchup was going to be. The Saints are coming off getting ripped apart by the Seahawks on Monday Night. However, they are a different kind of beast at home. They seem to never lose in their dome. That will be tested by the Panthers who come into the game with a top 2 defense in the league and a QB in Cam Newton that has been playing well lately. I still give the edge to the Saints just because they are at home, but this is definitely a game you don’t want to miss.
