AFC/NFC South Previews: Week 7

These are the AFC/NFC South previews for week 7 in the NFL

Houston Texans at Kansas City Chiefs

The Texans are falling apart at the seams right now. They are not confident in either QB, Owen Daniels is out for a while, and Andre Johnson is either much more injured than he’s letting on or he is finally starting to show his age. It boggles the mind that a team with that many talented players can’t seem to put it together. I blame their coach. I’ve said for a while that I don’t think he can win a Superbowl. The Chiefs seem to be just rolling right now. Andy Reid is as happy as he’s been in the past 5 years. Houston has the talent to win, but they are too much of a mess right now for me to pick them in a road game..

San Francisco 49ers at Tennessee Titans

The injury to Jake Locker has really taken a toll on the Titans. Their defense has kept them in games against Seattle and Kansas City, but turnovers by backup QB Ryan Fitzpatrick have ended their hopes in both games. He should be back in with 9 or 10, but can the Titans win a game to keep them within playoff range? The 49ers are starting to get in gear after a ruthless early season schedule with practically no “easy” weeks. The one thing they have re-discovered is their offense is based on running the football. Gore is on fire right now and it will be a big job to stop him.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Atlanta Falcons

This will probably be a nail in the coffin game for 1 of these 2 teams. The funny part is you can’t definitely pick a winner. The Falcons are supposed to be the better team, but we all saw what happened against the Jets. The Buccaneers are not a bad overall team, but they have to get the running game going with Doug Martin. The “Muscle Hamster” should find some holes against the weak Atlanta rush defense.

St Louis Rams at Carolina Panthers

I would say that this game won’t be leading off on most sports shows. The Rams looked good last week, but it was against a team in shambles right now in the Texans. The Panthers looked like a team on the rise last week, but it was against a team that can’t stop ANYONE from scoring. This week, the rock meets the hard place as 1 of these teams will jump into the playoff contention tier. I like the home team.

San Diego Chargers at Jacksonville Jaguars

Jacksonville gave a tough hard effort last week, but there was still any threat to the Broncos at any time. The Chargers are rolling on offense right now and I don’t think the Jaguars can duplicate the effort. I expect big games out of Rivers, Mathews, and Allen. The Jags are better with Henne, but I still expect a couple turnovers to give San Diego the comfortable win.

Denver Broncos at Indianapolis Colts (Sunday Night Game)

If you’re a fan of either of these 2 teams, you’re going to love this week. If you aren’t a fan, then at some point you might get sick of hearing the hype machine that will be placed on this game. Peyton Manning returns to the dome he owned for over 10 years. Andrew Luck, who plays better at home, didn’t have a very good Monday Night Football debut, but he hopes to have better luck in Peyton’s homecoming game. This will not only be heralded as the game of the week, but it has a good chance of living up to the billing. Something tells me that Andrew Luck will have a bounce back performance and give Denver their 1st loss.
