NFL Game Previews: Week 3

These are the NFL game previews for week 3 in the NFC West

St Louis Rams at Dallas Cowboys

The Rams have played tough in both games this year. They won a mini shootout against the Cardinals in week 1 and came back from being down big to the Falcons last week and came up a bit short. They now will be forced to score big against as they head into big D to face the Cowboys. Dallas lost a disappointing game they were winning in Kansas City last week. There is a lot of talk that they need to get back to basics and run the ball more to setup the pass, so expect a big game from DeMarco Murray. Tony Romo is still probably feeling the effects of his rib injury in week 1, so running would also release the pressure off of him. Cowboys get out early and hold on late.

Arizona Cardinals at New Orleans Saints

The Saints squeaked out a win last week with a game ending FG by Garrett Hartley. They have never been as good on the road as they are at home. They now return home to face an Arizona teams that also won their game last week in the last couple minutes, over the Lions. This game should have more pass attempts than any other game this week as both teams run the ball just to say they tried to run. By the time this game is done, 30 points may not be enough. I never go against New Orleans in a shootout at home, so they are obviously my pick this week.

Indianapolis Colts at San Francisco 49ers

Well, the big trade of the week went down right before I wrote this article. The Colts have traded for top 10 NFL back, Trent Richardson, from the Cleveland Browns, in a trade that I have no idea what the Browns are doing. Trent gives the Colts a power running game that can help counter off how bad the offensive line has been. Now, with all the weapons that Luck has, this teams is starting to look more and more like the old Indy “Big 3” of Peyton Manning, Marvin Harrison, and Edgerrin James. The 49ers are coming off a bad loss in Seattle on Sunday Night, where they were pretty much embarrassed. They hope to have Vernon Davis back healthy and I think they will take advantage of Richardson needing a week or 2 to get adjusted and get the home win.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Seattle Seahawks

If people don’t take the Oakland/Denver game as their survivor pick, this one will be. The opening line spread has the Seahawks by an unbelievable 19.5 point spread, a line that you will see in college football, but never in the pros. The Jaguars seem to be on their way to a 1 or 2 win season, if that. On the other hand, after the dismantlement of the 49ers, most are looking at Seattle as the team to beat this year. Obviously, it would be a monumental upset of Jacksonville even stayed within 1 score of Seattle, but I find it hard to give anyone almost 3 TDs in a point spread, but who knows, this may actually get that bad.
