Fantasy Football- Week 1 Starts n’ Sits

Fantasy Football is finally here. Fantasy drafts are done with and it’s time to get your weekly starting lineups in. Remember to start your studs. Don’t get cute! Unless you have a deep roster of bench players, you really can’t afford to sit your studs. Let’s get to it!

Start of the Week
Jamaal Charles, RB Kansas City Chiefs- He will be the focal point of this offense. He will get the touches between the tackles as well as receptions out of the backfield. Jaguars defense is ranked in the bottom third of the NFL against the run and the pass. Jaguars also one of the worst teams in the NFL.

Weekly Starts
Atlanta WR’s Julio Jones, Roddy White- I believe this game will become a shoot out. Matt Ryan will air it out a ton in this game. New Orleans defense was ranked dead last against the pass last year and I don’t see it getting much better this year. I think Roddy and Julio both eclipse the 100 yard mark.

Stevan Ridley, RB New England- The patriots offense look a little frustrated right now. Tough to judge how their passing attack will be with a new core of receivers. I believe Belichick will focus on the run even more this year. Ridley rushed for 1,263 yds last year with 12 TDs.

Sleeper Start
Ben Tate, RB Houston- I think the Texans are going to win in a blowout. Arian Foster will get his share. The Texans will get a big lead and rest Foster. Tate will pick up all the garbage points. Still, points are points!

Sit of the Week
Steve Smith, WR Carolina- The Seattle defense is really good but their secondary is even better.
It’s hard to sit a guy that is a No 1 WR for a team but if you have other options I would seriously consider benching him for this week.

Weekly Sits
Chris Ivory, RB Jets- This offense is a mess. If Geno Smith starts, it looks a tad better. I think defenses will stack the box and blitz a ton and make whoever is the starting Qb for the Jets try to beat them through the air. I like Ivory from a skills standpoint, I just don’t think he will have much room to run.

Eddie Lacy, RB Green Bay- He will face up against the top run defense in the league. We also don’t know how much of a workload he will get. He could get some goal line opportunities but the yardage will be minimal. The only way the Packers are going to win this game is through Aaron Rodgers.

Robert Griffin, QB Washington- Nothing against RG3, but I think he will have some rust for the first week. He was recovering and rehabbing his knee the whole off season . He barely had any training camp plus no preseason games. For the first week I would temper expectations.
